Fetch Rewards is a phone app (which I personally use at least once a week!) where you earn points by scanning receipts from your groceries. You can then use these points to get free Visa gift cards.
You get at least 25 points for every receipt no matter what, but you can earn more points if you buy specific items that they feature in their app. These include points for potato chips, trash bags, granola bars, tomatoes, dog treats, and more.
With Fetch Rewards, you can get a Visa Prepaid card in the amount of $5 for 7,000 points all the way to a $50 Visa Prepaid card for 63,500. You can choose between a virtual or a physical card, but they do charge a shipping and handling fee of $3.00 for physical cards.
Fetch Rewards is one of my favorite ways to get free gift cards as I don’t have to do much to earn points. I simply shop as usual, take a picture of my receipt with my phone using the Fetch Rewards app, and earn points. It takes literally less than one minute.

Ibotta is an app that gives you money back for your grocery shopping. After you shop, upload your receipts to the app to earn cash that you can use for free Visa gift cards.
Now, this is a little different from Fetch Rewards. With Fetch, you can scan any grocery receipt and get points. But, with Ibotta, you do need to select different offers before you go to the store. So, the two apps are quite similar, and I personally use both at the same time for the same receipts. It’s a way to get even more points for doing something very similar.
Here’s how Ibotta works:
- Browse in the app to see what cash back offers are available before you go to the grocery store (such as laundry detergent or potato chips).
- Go to the store and ring out.
- Take a picture of your grocery receipt using your phone within the Ibotta app to earn cash back.
Some of the cash back items I see when in the app, so that you can get a better idea, include:
- $2.00 cash back for buying Goldfish crackers
- $0.50 cash back for buying body wash
- $3.00 cash back for buying dog food
- $3.00 cash back for buying laundry detergent

Upside is an app that gives you cash back for your fuel purchases, like when you go to the gas station. Using Upside, you can earn around $150 per year in estimated cash back.
The first time you use the app, you can get a higher cash back amount to help you get familiar with the platform. For my first time using this app, I received $0.74 back per gallon. I bought 12.62 gallons and I saved $9.33 just by using this app for my first time.
Not every gas station near you will be a member in this app, but you can earn rewards at listed stations within the app. There are many qualifying stations near me, so there’s likely some near you too.

5. American Consumer Opinion
American Consumer Opinion is a paid online survey site that pays you to share your opinions in online surveys.
Joining American Consumer Opinion is free, and surveys typically pay around $1 to $5 each. Once you accumulate enough earnings, you can redeem them for free Visa gift cards.

For example, some stores may have 5% cash back. This means that if you spent $100 online at that store, then you could expect to see $5.00 in rewards added to your Rakuten account afterwards.
