Yes, well, you also have that problem, for example, with parking in a permit area if you drive a loan car due to maintenance/repairs.
If I and my SP were to be fined for this, I would cheerfully file an objection.

So then you have a sticker on your bicycle that says you are allowed on the cycle path, but then you are still not allowed to use the cycle path in many places. Motorists will understand that well

And where should you place that sticker? Over the license plate? Doesn't look like a small thing...
The sticker is not that big, just a few cm. Photo was taken with the "macro mode" on my iPhone... In A'foort I think I can use practically any cycle path, only a few cycle paths that go to the neighboring municipalities (one of which I always take for commuting anyway). ).

Yes that's right. The exemption is formally linked to the license plate. (If that is the case, I don't understand why there should be a sticker on it Can still be consulted digitally on site. I honestly don't understand why you have to personally ask for an exemption, but yes...)

Kooknie.
Just put a sign saying ' Speed pedelec allowed' on it and you're done. Everyone gets it again.

I'm guessing that they want to revoke the exemption of people who do not behave courteously...
The bottom sign would have been much clearer and accessible to everyone.

Received a message from the Municipality of Amersfoort that the exemption has been extended until June 30, 2023. After that, there may be a regional exemption in Utrecht. It is not yet known where exactly this will apply.
In any case, there is some movement in the legislation after about 5 years.
See the appendix where we also present the results of a study into the SP.

Ah, the results of the survey had passed me by.
Interesting to read. You must also be able to show the renewal letter (photo is also allowed), which I think is nonsensical. It would be great if it was soon allowed throughout Utrecht. At least I can also have it legalized on the cycle path in Zeist

Because the exemption for riding on the cycle path for s- pedelec in Amersfoort expires on July 1, 2023, I started looking for the next step:
https://www.provincie-utrecht.nl/onderw ... t-fietspad
From From July 1, 2023, an exemption can be requested for the municipalities of Utrecht and Amersfoort and for the cycle paths along provincial N-roads:
See: https://www.utrecht.nl/speed pedelec
This trial lasts 2 years.
My normal route is through Utrecht via the roadway (Graadt van Roggenweg and Daalse tunnel), but that will be optional from next week...

Well, I didn't see a letter.
It is a bit of a shame that it is not yet stated which municipalities are participating (or whether more participate than Utrecht and Amersfoort, that is the impression given).
Since I drive through Bunnik, Zeist and Nieuwegein, it's interesting. "The province of Utrecht, the municipality of Utrecht and the municipality of Amersfoort are working together on a regional exemption. This is valid in all municipalities that participate and on the cycle paths along the provincial roads (N-roads). We issue the exemption on behalf of these municipalities. You can apply for the exemption from July 1, 2023.
But we will apply for the exemption.
