Is the song "Seven Years" based on a true story? ›

“7 Years” — which is up for record of the year and song of the year, along with best pop duo/group performance — is both a sensitive song inspired by the untimely death of Forchhammer's dad and something he wrote in three hours after his producer woke him from a nap by playing the melody on piano.

"7 Years" is a soul-pop song with hip hop influences, written in the key of G minor with a chord progression of Gm-Bb-Eb-F. It runs at 130 bpm.

My Comments: I'm convinced that Hollis Brown, like Dylan's The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll, is based on a real incident that he read in a newspaper. "Hollis Brown" might not have been his real name, and it might not have happened in South Dakota, although the isolation there provides a perfect poetic landscape.
