JUST A GOT THEIR HANDS. BE YOUR HANDS. ROLL OVER. THE DELAND POLICE DEPARTMENT RECEIVED A SURGE OF REPORTS THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY OF LAST WEEK OF BURGLARIES TO CARS, GARAGES AND HOMES. THEY GOT A TIP FROM ONE PERSON WHO SAW THE SUSPECTS ACTIVELY BREAKING INTO CARS FOLLOWING THE SUCCESSFUL DEPLOYMENT OF STOP STICKS. THEN THE INDIVIDUALS WERE CAPTURED IN THE WOODS WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF AIR ONE AND K9 ZOE HAD A GIRL THERE. YOU FADLEY GREG SET UP. THE SUSPECTS WERE CAPTURED EARLY FRIDAY MORNING IN THE WOODS. BRANDON LARRY FROM ORLANDO AND DARIAN LYNAM FROM LEESBURG FACE A HOST OF CHARGES, INCLUDING GRAND THEFT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE TO POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY A CONVICTED FELON. DETECTIVES RECOVERED THINGS STOLEN FROM SOUTH FLORIDA TO VOLUSIA COUNTY. THERE’S A LOT OF KEY FOBS AND LIKE LIKE FOBS FROM GARAGE DOORS, THAT TYPE OF THING. 2 suspects arrested following burglary surge in Central, South Florida, police say
Two individuals believed to be responsible for a series of burglaries across South and Central Florida have been arrested by Deland Police and the Volusia County Sheriff's Office."Let's do it. Roll over," was heard in the body-worn camera footage provided by the DeLand Police Department.The footage showed the moment of apprehension of the suspects, who were reportedly seen actively breaking into cars.The arrests followed a surge of burglary reports received by the Deland Police Department from Thursday into Friday of last week. The crimes ranged from car thefts to home invasions.A tip from a vigilant citizen, who spotted the suspects actively breaking into cars, led to their capture. "And then following the successful deployment of stop sticks, the individuals were captured in the woods with the assistance of Air One and K-9 Zoe," explained Vicki Karr, Public Information Officer for the DeLand Police Department.K-9 Zoe's contribution was audible, with her barks echoing in the woods. The suspects were captured early Friday morning in the woods. The apprehended individuals, identified as Brandon Larry from Orlando and Day'Aeran Lynum from Leesburg, are facing a host of charges. These include grand theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.Detectives were able to recover things stolen from South Florida to Volusia County."There's a lot of key fobs and like fobs from garage doors that type of thing. You can see backpacks ..." "With this case, as those items are identified, the suspects could be potentially facing additional charges," Vicki Karr said.The suspects are accused of hitting several subdivisions, primarily on Deland's north side, including Mallory Square, Forest Trace, Heritage Estates, and Cross Creek.They'd target unlocked vehicles, finding garage door openers, getting inside the garages and homes."One thing that we've been doing is pushing out the 9 p.m. routine and trying to get people to remember every night at 9, lock up your cars, that type of thing because we feel like taking those extra steps to lock up your cars, lock up your doors, that type of thing can be the big difference in you becoming a victim," Karr added.Karr emphasized the importance of preventive measures against such crimes.
