Cleaning your entire home can seem like an overwhelming task. With planning and teamwork, you (and your family) can get it done in no time! It can be broken down into these five easy steps.

You are sitting in the corner of your living room, looking at the leftover clutter: decorations, trash, paperwork all over the floor and a withered plants.

Before you break out in a cold sweat at the thought of doing all of the cleaning yourself, stop. Cleaning should be a family affair. You know you should delegate because you’re tired of doing it all!Since everyone contributed to the mess, everyone is going to clean the mess. Here are a few cleaning tips for you to make cleaning stress-free for your whole family.

1.Family Meeting

First things first, gather your children and hubby together and make a game plan. Before any cleaning starts, put some party music. This will get you all in the right mood.

Now, ask everyone to help you put away all their misplaced items and return items where they need to go. Your younger children can remove the decorations from the tree. Assign different tasks to each person. One team can put away all the toys. Another one can sort through the gifts and set aside the ones to return.

2. Kids’ Bedrooms

The next thing you want to do is have your kids clean their rooms. Give clear instructions so that they know what they have to do. You can write down all the tasks they have to handle. For example:

  • put away all dirty laundry
  • make your bed
  • organize your drawers

3. Common Areas

In the meantime, you and your hubby can clean the kitchen and living room. The basic tasks you have to tackle include:

If you want to enjoy cleaning, pick the tasks you enjoy the most. For instance, if your spouse likes dusting5 Easy Steps to a Clean Home (9), let him dust. If you prefer cleaning the sink5 Easy Steps to a Clean Home (10) to sweeping the floor, ask your hubby to handle the sweeping while you focus on getting the sink shiny. Before you know it, you’ll be done.

As you go through the house, vacuum5 Easy Steps to a Clean Home (11) all floors, carpets, and baseboards to ensure there is nothing left. While you’re at it, you can vacuum the corners of your ceilings along with your ceiling fans5 Easy Steps to a Clean Home (12).

4. Entryway

The next thing you want to focus on is the entry way. Do you have an appropriate wreath that you used to decorate the front door? Good! You might want to divide these tasks:

  • sweep or vacuum
  • wipe down the door
  • dust
  • mop

Ask your kids to wipe down the staircase railing while you tackle the bathroom(s).

5. Bathrooms

Clean the toilet, mop the floor, and clean the sink. If the tub and shower need attention, use a spray-on cleaner5 Easy Steps to a Clean Home (13) to tackle soap scum, mold, and mildew5 Easy Steps to a Clean Home (14). If you don’t know what to do with mold in your house, we found a nice article at HomeGearExpert.com. Finally, wipe down the mirror. Be sure to ventilate the bathroom to allow fumes to escape.

Conclusion

You don’t have to do it yourself you can even hire home cleaners to have that extra help, or if you have visitors coming and you don’t have the time.

Clean living spaces will put you in the right mood and help you get back into your normal routine more quickly.Don’t wait for tomorrow. Clean your home today, so you can enjoy it again.

According to me one of the hardest things to do is pull out mold, mildew and gunk from in between the tiles in the bathroom. Can you tell me the best way to remove the mold, so that I can remove mold as soon as possible from my home?

    • 5 Easy Steps to a Clean Home (27)OutsideTheBoxMom says

I would suggest applying a cleaning spray containing bleach or a gel containing bleach to the tile grout. Let it sit for several hours and come back to see if it worked. Reapply as necessary. Make sure that the room is well-ventilated, you wear clothing that will not be ruined if it gets stained, and don’t let kids/pets in the room.

Let us know if this works for you.

For cleaning mold in the bathroom, my favorite cleaners are plain soap or vinegar most of the times. It does take some elbow grease, but works most of the times. If not, then you have the more powerful bleach for it.
